Transcript and mark sheet attestation in the UAE legalizes the academic record behind your degree: the transcript, semester mark sheets or consolidated grade report. UAE equivalency offices, licensing bodies and universities often want it alongside the attested degree, and a missing transcript is a common reason a file stalls. Wordcraft attests transcripts from 50+ countries, normally in the same run as the degree.
Why UAE Authorities Want the Transcript Too
- Degree equivalency: the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reviews university degrees, usually with the transcript. See equivalency certificate.
- Professional licensing: engineers, teachers and health professionals are often asked to show course content and credit hours.
- Postgraduate admission to master's and doctoral programs at UAE universities.
- Employers and visa categories that assess the field or level of study.
- Study or work abroad with a transcript issued by a UAE university.
Consolidated Transcript or Semester Mark Sheets?
Universities in some countries issue one consolidated transcript; others, including many in South Asia, issue a separate mark sheet for every semester or year. Each sheet is a document in its own right in the attestation chain, so eight semester mark sheets mean eight attestations. If your university can issue a consolidated transcript, ordering one before you start often saves both time and cost.
Transcript Attestation Routes
Issued by a university abroad
The university, examination board or education authority verifies the transcript as its country requires. The foreign ministry authenticates it, and the UAE Embassy or Consulate in that country then legalizes it, issuing the UAE MOFA attestation digitally in the same step. The degree follows the same path; see degree certificate attestation.
Issued by a UAE university
A transcript from a UAE institution is verified by the relevant UAE education authority, attested digitally by MOFA and, where the destination country asks, legalized by its embassy in the UAE.
When the University Sends the Transcript Directly
Some receiving bodies prefer a sealed or electronic transcript sent straight from the university, while others insist on an attested copy they can keep on file. Before you pay for attestation, we check which form your equivalency office, licensing body or admissions team actually wants.
Translating Course Names and Grading Scales
English transcripts are commonly accepted. Transcripts in French, Russian, Chinese and other languages usually need an Arabic legal translation, which our MOJ-certified legal translators prepare with course titles and grading scales rendered the same way on every page; see degree certificate translation. For the full range of academic papers, visit educational certificate attestation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to attest every semester mark sheet?
If your university issues separate sheets and the authority asks for them, yes, each one. A consolidated transcript can cut the number of documents, and we advise before you pay.
Is the transcript needed for degree equivalency?
Usually, yes. The equivalency review normally looks at the transcript together with the attested degree.
Can a copy of the transcript be attested?
That depends on the country and the university. Some attest university-certified copies; others want the original.
Does a foreign transcript still need MOFA attestation in the UAE?
Usually not. The UAE Embassy that legalizes it abroad now records the MOFA attestation digitally.
Can the transcript and degree be attested in one order?
Yes, and it is the usual approach. Both come from the same university, so they move through the same offices together.
How long does transcript attestation take?
It varies with the country, the university and how many sheets you have. The written quote gives the expected timing.
