Degree Certificate Attestation in UAE is an essential step in obtaining an employment visa in UAE. Your employment visa will be issued in the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, or Kuwait with only attested credentials. Your document will be forwarded to several government departments to finish up the attestation process.
Procedures for degree certificates attestation in UAE
- First, Notary Public Stamp from the home country if required.
- Then, State Education Department verification or relevant authority verification from the home country.
- Likewise, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) attestation from the home country.
- Additionally, UAE Embassy Legalization in the home country — now including the UAE MOFA attestation digitally.
- Finally, no separate Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) attestation in the UAE in most cases — the UAE Embassy step now includes it.
Generally, the attestation procedure may vary depending on the type of degree and it mainly depends on the policies of the home country.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be in the home country for the first steps?
No. We coordinate the home-country and embassy steps through our network while you stay in the UAE; you only hand over the original and a passport copy.
Does the document also need an Arabic translation?
Often, yes — UAE authorities usually require a certified Arabic legal translation of documents issued in other languages. We confirm this with the receiving authority and can do it in-house.
Is the attestation valid for every UAE authority?
Once the UAE MOFA attestation is complete — for most documents issued abroad it is now done digitally by the UAE embassy in the issuing country — the document can be used across the emirates. Some authorities also ask for an Arabic translation, which we check before submission.
Do I need to attest my transcripts as well as my degree?
Some employers, universities and licensing authorities ask for attested transcripts as well; we check the receiving authority's requirements before we start.
More Questions About Degree Attestation
Is attestation the same as equivalency?
No. Attestation confirms that your degree is genuine and was issued by a real institution. Equivalency is a separate decision by the UAE higher-education ministry on what level your degree matches in the UAE system. Equivalency is only possible after attestation; see equivalency certificate.
My degree is from a UAE university. What does it need?
It depends on where you will use it. Inside the UAE, many employers accept it after verification by the university or the regulator. For use abroad, it needs MOFA attestation and then the destination country's embassy. The section on UAE and foreign degrees above explains both routes.
Do you need my original degree certificate?
For most countries, yes: the home-country authorities and the UAE Embassy legalize the original. A few routes work from a notarized or university-certified copy. We tell you which applies to your country before you send anything.
Can a degree studied online or by distance learning be attested?
Attestation looks at whether the certificate is authentic, so it is usually possible. Equivalency is stricter, and online or distance programs are often refused. If you need equivalency, check that first so you do not attest a degree the ministry will not accept.
How does my employer check a digitally attested degree?
They scan the QR code or enter the reference number on MOFA's verification service. Share the original PDF you received rather than a screenshot, so the code stays readable.
What Happens After You Send Us Your Degree
A degree is rarely attested alone. Before quoting, we look at the degree and the transcript together and ask what the attestation is for, because a MOHRE work permit, a licensing body and an equivalency application can each need different supporting documents. The quote, sent within 10–30 minutes, lists the route for your issuing country and which of your documents must go with the degree.
Once you approve it, you hand over the original at any of our four offices or use our collection service. We run the home-country steps and the UAE Embassy legalization (with MOFA included digitally) while you follow progress online. If the receiving authority needs Arabic, our MOJ-certified legal translators translate the attested degree, and the originals come back to you ready for your employer, licensing body or equivalency file.

Degree Attestation by Country
The home-country part of the route is different for every country. Country guides: India (and Kerala HRD), Pakistan, Philippines, UK, USA, Jordan, Egypt, Ireland and Kenya. Every other country is listed on the attestation services page.
Degree Attestation and Equivalency
Attestation proves your degree is genuine; an equivalency certificate from the UAE higher-education ministry confirms which UAE qualification level it matches. Many jobs need only attestation, but teaching, engineering, health, some government roles and education-based Golden Visa applications also need equivalency. The ministry only accepts an equivalency application once the degree (and usually the transcript and earlier qualifications) is attested, so plan both together and avoid attesting twice.
Degrees from UAE Universities vs Foreign Degrees
Where your degree was awarded decides the whole route. A UAE degree is verified at home and then attested by MOFA; a foreign degree is attested in its own country, and the UAE Embassy there now includes MOFA.
| Your degree | First step | MOFA | Then |
|---|---|---|---|
| From a federal or licensed UAE university | Verification by the university and, where required, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) | Digital attestation, online if the certificate has a QR code or reference number | Destination country's embassy in the UAE, if the degree is used abroad |
| From a university in a Dubai free zone | Attestation of the higher-education certificate by KHDA | Digital attestation | Destination embassy, if needed |
| From a foreign university | Home-country chain (university, education authority, foreign ministry) | Included by the UAE Embassy in that country in most cases | Arabic legal translation if required, and equivalency from MOHESR where the employer or licensing body asks for it |
Because MOFA attestation is digital, a UAE degree no longer needs a sticker or a counter visit; we confirm the current steps and timing for your degree in the free quote. The UAE does not issue apostilles, so a UAE degree going to an apostille country is still legalized through MOFA and the destination embassy.
