Spain certificate attestation in UAE is required before a Spanish university degree, civil-registry certificate, criminal-record certificate or notarial deed is accepted by a UAE employer, ministry, school or free zone. The competent Spanish ministries legalize the document, then the UAE Embassy in Madrid. Wordcraft coordinates both, plus the Spanish-to-Arabic legal translation, with a free written quote within 10–30 minutes.

Spanish Documents We Attest

  • University degrees (grado, máster, doctorado), official titles and academic transcripts
  • Título de Bachiller and other school certificates
  • Literal birth, marriage and death certificates and the libro de familia
  • Criminal-record certificates (antecedentes penales)
  • Notarial deeds, powers of attorney and company deeds
  • Commercial Registry extracts (nota simple) and board certificates
  • Employment certificates and professional association letters

Which Spanish Ministries Sign Before the UAE Embassy in Madrid

  1. Competent Spanish ministry. The signature is first legalized by the ministry responsible for the document: the justice ministry for civil-registry and notarial documents, or the education or universities ministry for academic titles.
  2. Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Legalization for use in a country outside the Apostille Convention.
  3. UAE Embassy in Madrid. Legalization for use in the UAE. The embassy now normally completes the UAE MOFA attestation digitally, so a separate MOFA attestation in the UAE is usually not needed.
  4. Spanish-to-Arabic legal translation, then submission to the UAE authority.

Which ministries are involved depends on the document, and the route for yours is confirmed before work begins. For the embassy's digital attestation, see UAE embassy attestation.

A Spanish Apostille Is Not Enough for the UAE

Spanish architects, engineers, chefs, football coaches, teachers and hospitality managers have built a strong community in the UAE, and Spanish companies are active in infrastructure, energy and retail. Each group brings a typical set: a university título and transcript, a certificado literal de nacimiento or libro de familia for family sponsorship, and escrituras or Registro Mercantil extracts for company work.

Spain is in the Apostille Convention, but the UAE is not, so a Spanish apostille does not make a document usable here. Spanish documents for the UAE are legalized through the Spanish ministries and the UAE Embassy in Madrid. More background: is the UAE part of the Apostille Convention?

UAE ministries, courts, notaries and free zones generally want Spanish documents in Arabic. Our Spanish legal translation team of MOJ-certified legal translators translates the attested document with every stamp and legalization, so the Arabic version mirrors what the official sees. Company files often also need commercial document attestation.

Spain Certificate Attestation FAQ

Is a Spanish apostille accepted in the UAE?

No. Spanish documents are legalized by the Spanish ministries and the UAE Embassy in Madrid, because the UAE is not a Convention member.

Should I use the literal birth certificate or the libro de familia?

UAE authorities usually ask for a recent literal certificate, though it varies by purpose. We confirm which document the receiving office wants before starting.

Do Spanish documents need an Arabic translation in the UAE?

Almost always. The translation is made from the attested document by our MOJ-certified legal translators.

Is a separate MOFA attestation needed after the UAE Embassy in Madrid?

Usually not; the Madrid embassy completes the MOFA attestation digitally in the same step. The quote confirms it.

How long does Spain certificate attestation take?

It depends on the document and on the Spanish ministries that must sign. Your free quote includes a realistic estimate.
