Which Notary Do You Need?
The UAE has several notary authorities, and the right one depends on the emirate, the document and where it will be used. Wordcraft is not a notary: we identify the competent authority, prepare the document and book it for you.
| Authority | Where / who | Our page |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Courts notary public and Smart e-Notary | Dubai: counters and video sessions | Notary public Dubai |
| Licensed private notaries | Dubai: private offices, extended hours, video | Private notary Dubai |
| Ministry of Justice e-Notary | Federal notary services, including Sharjah files, and many signatories abroad; video with all parties | Online notarization |
| Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) | Abu Dhabi: counters and remote sessions | Notary public Abu Dhabi |
| Sharjah courts notary and the federal MOJ notary | Sharjah: we work with both | Notary public Sharjah |
| RAK Courts notary | Ras Al Khaimah: we confirm the right counter when we book | Notary public Ras Al Khaimah |
| DIFC Courts and ADGM Courts notaries | Companies in those financial free zones, and others who choose them | Ask us: we prepare bilingual files for both |
Three Ways to Notarize: At the Counter, by Video or From Abroad
- At the counter: you sign in person before a court or licensed notary with your Emirates ID (Dubai Courts requires a valid one); without it, we arrange Ministry of Justice (MOJ) notarization with your passport. We prepare the bilingual document first and book the slot.
- By video: through a UAE e-notary platform or a private notary's video session, from home, the office or abroad. See online notarization.
- From abroad: sign at a notary in your country, then home-country authentication and the UAE embassy (MOFA included digitally), followed by Arabic legal translation. See POA from abroad.

Personal, Company and Property Documents
Notarized for Use Abroad: MOFA and Embassy After the Notary
A document notarized in the UAE for use in another country usually continues to UAE MOFA attestation, now digital and verifiable online, and then to the destination country's embassy. The UAE is not an Apostille member, so this legalization chain replaces an apostille. We run every step and track it online for you: notarization for use abroad, MOFA attestation and notarization vs attestation.
What to Bring: Emirates ID or Passport and a Bilingual Draft
- ID: original Emirates ID for residents; valid passport for visitors and non-residents (read Emirates ID rules for notarization)
- A bilingual Arabic–English draft: or an Arabic legal translation by an MOJ-certified translator (we prepare it)
- Supporting papers: title deed, vehicle registration, trade license, MOA or resolution, as relevant
- Every signatory: present in person or on the video call
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Wordcraft a notary public?
No. Wordcraft drafts and translates your documents and books the competent notary: Dubai Courts, a licensed private notary, the MOJ e-Notary, ADJD, the Sharjah courts notary or the RAK courts. The notarization itself is always done by the notary.
Where can I find a notary near me?
We have offices in Dubai (Al Twar), Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, and we can arrange a video session wherever you are. Send your document on WhatsApp for a written quote in 10–30 minutes.
Can I notarize a document without an Emirates ID?
Yes. Dubai Courts notarization requires a valid Emirates ID. Without one (for example, if you are a visitor, a non-resident or your ID has expired), we arrange notarization through the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) with your passport, usually by video. We confirm the route for your case before booking.
Do documents have to be in Arabic?
UAE notaries work in Arabic, so documents are prepared bilingually or with an Arabic legal translation by an MOJ-certified translator.
How long is a notarized POA valid?
It depends on who notarized it. Abu Dhabi (ADJD) POAs have a fixed term; Dubai Courts and MOJ POAs last until revoked or until an end date written into them. Full rules: POA validity in the UAE.
