Legal notices serve as formal written communications issued to notify individuals, businesses, or organizations about legal obligations, claims, or required actions. Whether for dispute resolutions, warnings, contract breaches, or official announcements, Wordcraft provides professionally drafted and legally compliant legal notices tailored to UAE laws.

When Do You Need a Legal Notice?

A well-drafted legal notice is often the first step before initiating legal action. It allows the involved parties to resolve disputes amicably while serving as a record of communication. Legal notices are commonly used for:

  • Contractual Breaches: Informing parties of non-compliance with contract terms.
  • Loan & Debt Recovery: Requesting repayment of outstanding dues in a legally binding manner.
  • Employment Disputes: Addressing workplace conflicts, termination disputes, or employee rights violations.
  • Eviction Notices: Official communication for property rental disputes or lease terminations.
  • Defamation & Libel: Warning individuals or entities regarding false statements harming reputation.
  • Business & Partnership Disputes: Notifying business partners or stakeholders about legal concerns.

Documents You Need

  • A summary of the dispute and what you are asking the other party to do
  • The original Emirates ID of every signatory (residents), or the original passport (non-residents and visitors)
  • The contract, invoices, cheques, tenancy agreement or correspondence the notice relies on
  • The full name and address of the party receiving the notice
  • An Arabic translation or a bilingual Arabic–English version, if the document is not already in Arabic — we prepare it for you

How It Works — Step by Step

  1. Tell us what you need on WhatsApp or email, or visit any of our four offices — Dubai HQ (Al Twar), Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Ras Al Khaimah — and get a free quote within 10–30 minutes.
  2. Drafting — we prepare the legal notice in Arabic (with an English version if needed) and send it for your review.
  3. Notary appointment — we book the session in person or by video through the competent notary platform (for example Dubai Courts, the Ministry of Justice e-Notary service or the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department) and check IDs beforehand.
  4. Signing — you sign or confirm the document in front of the notary, who verifies identity and applies the notary seal.
  5. Collection or delivery — collect the notarized document at the notary or receive it through our free delivery. If it will be used abroad, we can arrange MOFA attestation and embassy legalization.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why send a legal notice before going to court?

A legal notice formally records your demand and gives the other party a chance to respond. In many disputes — for example rent, payment or contract claims — it is a useful or required first step before legal action.

Can I notarize a document without a valid Emirates ID?

Yes. Dubai Courts notarization requires a valid Emirates ID. Without one (for example, if you are a visitor, a non-resident or your ID has expired), we arrange notarization through the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) with your passport, usually by video. We confirm the route for your case before booking.

Does the document need to be in Arabic?

UAE notaries work in Arabic, so non-Arabic documents are usually prepared bilingually or with a certified Arabic legal translation, which we provide.

Will a UAE-notarized document be accepted abroad?

Usually it also needs MOFA attestation and legalization by the destination country's embassy. We confirm the route for your country before notarization.

In the UAE, a legal notice served through a notary public, known in Arabic as «إنذار عدلي», carries more weight than an ordinary letter or email: the notary records the exact content of the notice and the date it was served, which gives you strong proof if the matter reaches court. Arabic-speaking clients often search for exactly this term. Common notary-served notices include:

  • Eviction notices by landlords, where Dubai's tenancy law expects service through a notary public or registered mail for the main eviction reasons. See eviction notice notarization.
  • Payment demands for unpaid invoices, rent, loans or cheques, giving a deadline before legal action
  • Contract breach notices requiring the other party to perform or remedy within a set period
  • POA revocation notices informing an agent that their power of attorney has been canceled. See cancel a power of attorney.
  • Partnership and company notices: such as calling a partner to a meeting or notifying a share transfer

Notices are drafted in Arabic, or bilingually in Arabic and English, because the notary and the courts work in Arabic. Wordcraft drafts and translates the notice and arranges service through the notary; Wordcraft is not a law firm, and for disputes your lawyer advises on the legal strategy.

How Service of a Notice Is Proved

A notice only helps you if you can prove the other party received it. The notary's service record does that:

  1. Notarization: you sign the notice before the notary, in person or by video, and the notary records its content.
  2. Service: the notice is delivered to the recipient through the notary's channels, which may include registered delivery or electronic means at the recipient's registered address, email or mobile, depending on the notary and the details available.
  3. Proof of service: you receive the notarized notice with a record of how and when it was served.

Accurate recipient details matter: the name as on the contract or trade license, the current address, and a mobile number and email where you have them. If the recipient cannot be reached, the notary's record still shows the attempt, and your lawyer advises on the next step. For court filings that follow the notice; see court memorandum.
