Court judgment translation in Dubai is the legal translation of judgments, pleadings, police reports and evidence into Arabic for the onshore courts, or into English for the DIFC, ADGM, arbitration or a court abroad. Law firms, companies and individuals need it to file, appeal or enforce. Wordcraft's MOJ-licensed legal translators keep case numbers and court names identical across the whole bundle.
We work on cases before Dubai Courts, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department and the courts of the other emirates, as well as arbitrations and foreign courts, in 150+ languages.
What Goes Into a Court Translation Bundle
- Judgments and orders: first-instance, appeal and cassation judgments, execution orders, travel-ban and attachment orders
- Pleadings: statements of claim, defense memoranda, replies and legal opinions
- Police and prosecution documents: police reports, statements and prosecution referrals
- Evidence: contracts, emails, WhatsApp chats, invoices, bank statements and medical reports
- Expert reports: accounting, engineering and medical reports by court-appointed experts
- Family court documents: divorce, custody and inheritance judgments, often needed in English abroad
Nothing is summarized. Headers, case numbers, stamps and signatures are all translated, so the judge, both lawyers and the other party read the same references.
Which Language Each Forum Works In
| Forum | Working language | What needs translating |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Courts, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, federal and other emirates' courts | Arabic | Any document in another language, into certified Arabic |
| DIFC Courts | English | Arabic documents, into English |
| ADGM Courts | English | Arabic documents, into English |
| Arbitration | Set by the arbitration agreement or the tribunal | Whatever the tribunal directs |
Filing rules for onshore cases are published by each court, for example Dubai Courts. When a case moves between forums, we prepare bilingual bundles so both versions stay aligned. For arbitration-heavy matters, see court and arbitration translation.
Foreign Judgments: Attestation, Translation, Then the Court
A judgment issued abroad (a divorce decree, a custody order or a commercial judgment) cannot be relied on in the UAE until it is attested and translated, and in many cases recognized by a UAE court. It is usually authenticated in the issuing country and legalized by the UAE embassy there, then translated into Arabic by a legal translator. The court then examines whether the conditions for enforcement are met. Your lawyer advises on those legal steps; our part is a translated judgment and attestation that are complete and consistent. The reverse applies too: a UAE judgment used abroad needs MOFA attestation and a translation for the foreign court.
Court Judgment Translation Against a Hearing Date
Court dates do not move for translators, so put your filing or hearing date in your first message. For a large bundle we translate the pages your lawyer needs first, deliver in agreed batches and confirm the schedule in writing. Litigation files are sensitive: only the translators and staff assigned to the case see them, and we sign an NDA on request. If a document also needs notarizing, such as a court memorandum or a legal notice, we arrange that too. For hearings with non-Arabic-speaking parties or witnesses, see interpretation services.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do onshore UAE courts accept English documents without translation?
No. Onshore courts work in Arabic, so English and other-language documents are filed with a certified Arabic translation. The DIFC and ADGM Courts work in English.
Can you translate WhatsApp chats and emails as evidence?
Yes. Chat exports, emails and screenshots are translated with dates, times and sender names exactly as shown.
Can you translate a UAE divorce or custody judgment for use abroad?
Yes, into English or another language. The judgment usually needs MOFA attestation first, and the foreign authority may add requirements of its own.
Can urgent pages from a large bundle be delivered first?
Yes. Tell us which pages the hearing depends on and we schedule them ahead of the rest, confirming the batches in your quote.
Do you advise on what the judgment means?
No. We translate the judgment exactly and leave its legal interpretation to your lawyer.
