  2. Hand over the original at any of our four offices — Dubai HQ (Al Twar), Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Ras Al Khaimah — or use our free pickup.
  3. UK authentication — certification by a UK solicitor or notary where needed, then authentication by the FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be in the home country for the first steps?

No. We coordinate the home-country and embassy steps through our network while you stay in the UAE; you only hand over the original and a passport copy.

Does the document also need an Arabic translation?

Often, yes — UAE authorities usually require a certified Arabic legal translation of documents issued in other languages. We confirm this with the receiving authority and can do it in-house.

Is the attestation valid for every UAE authority?

Once the UAE MOFA attestation is complete — for most documents issued abroad it is now done digitally by the UAE embassy in the issuing country — the document can be used across the emirates. Some authorities also ask for an Arabic translation, which we check before submission.

More Questions About UK Certificate Attestation

Do I need my original UK degree, or is a certified copy enough?

Often a certified copy prepared by a UK solicitor or notary is what goes through the FCDO, but the solicitor usually has to see the original or confirm it with the university. Some UAE employers and ministries also ask to see the original later. We check what your receiving office accepts before we start.

Is the FCDO apostille on my degree enough for the UAE?

No. The FCDO certificate is an apostille, and the UAE does not rely on apostilles. The UAE Embassy in London still has to legalize the document, which it now does digitally with the MOFA attestation included.

Do Scottish and Northern Irish documents follow the same route?

Yes. The FCDO legalizes documents from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and the UAE Embassy in London handles all of them. Only the first certification step can differ, depending on who issued the document.

UK Route 2026: Solicitor or Notary, FCDO, then the UAE Embassy in London (Digital, MOFA Included)

UK documents now follow the digital model. After FCDO legalization, the UAE Embassy in London legalizes the document digitally and includes the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) attestation in the same step. Instead of a paper stamp you receive a digitally attested PDF that is ready for use in the UAE, normally without any MOFA visit here.

  • Degrees and transcripts: usually certified by a UK solicitor or notary first, then legalized by the FCDO.
  • GRO birth, marriage and death certificates: usually go straight to the FCDO.
  • ACRO police certificates and DBS checks: certified where required, then FCDO.
  • Company documents: Companies House certified copies or notarized documents, then FCDO.

How to Verify the Digital Certificate

A digitally attested UK document can be checked online through the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs verification service, usually by scanning the QR code or entering the reference number printed on the attestation. UAE employers, schools and government departments run the same check. Keep the digital file safe and share the original PDF, not a screenshot or re-scan, so the verification details stay readable. If the receiving authority also wants Arabic, our MOJ-certified legal translators translate the attested document; see legal translation in Dubai.
