New Zealand certificate attestation in UAE is needed before a New Zealand degree, teaching or nursing qualification, birth or marriage certificate, or company document can be used for a UAE work visa, license, family visa or business setup. New Zealand authenticates the document for a non-Convention country, then the UAE Embassy accredited to New Zealand legalizes it. Wordcraft coordinates both, with a free quote within 10–30 minutes.

Teachers, Nurses and Families: Who Needs It

  • Teachers joining UAE schools who need an attested degree certificate and teaching qualification
  • Nurses, doctors and allied health professionals applying for UAE licensing
  • New Zealand families sponsoring a spouse or children with attested marriage certificates and birth certificates
  • Engineers, pilots and hospitality managers whose visa requires an attested qualification

Why a New Zealand Apostille Does Not Work Here

New Zealanders are well represented in UAE schools, hospitals, aviation, construction, hospitality and sport. Teachers and health professionals especially need attested qualifications before a UAE employer can complete their visa and license.

New Zealand issues apostilles for Apostille Convention countries, but the UAE is not a member (see is the UAE part of the Apostille Convention?). Documents for the UAE are authenticated in New Zealand for a non-Convention country and then legalized at the UAE Embassy accredited to New Zealand. Because this runs outside New Zealand's own apostille system, the order is easy to get wrong, so we confirm it first.

New Zealand Documents We Attest

  • Bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and academic transcripts
  • Teaching qualifications and teacher registration documents
  • Nursing and allied health qualifications
  • NCEA and other school certificates
  • Birth, marriage, civil union and death certificates
  • Police vetting / criminal-record certificates
  • Company extracts, powers of attorney and statutory declarations

New Zealand Authentication and the UAE Embassy Step

  1. Notarization, where needed. Documents whose signatures cannot be authenticated directly, such as many university documents, private documents and copies, are certified by a New Zealand notary public first.
  2. New Zealand authentication. The competent New Zealand government authority authenticates the signature for use outside the Apostille Convention.
  3. UAE Embassy accredited to New Zealand. Legalization for use in the UAE; under the current digital process this includes the UAE MOFA attestation, so you normally do not need a separate MOFA attestation in the UAE.
  4. Arabic translation where the receiving office asks, then submission.

The route for your document is confirmed before work begins. For how the embassy issues its digital certificate, see UAE embassy attestation.

Do New Zealand Documents Need Arabic?

New Zealand documents are in English, which most UAE employers and many free zones accept. Courts, notaries, some ministries and family-sponsorship files may require an Arabic legal translation. Our legal translation team in Dubai, made up of MOJ-certified legal translators, translates the attested document with every stamp.

Starting a New Zealand File

  • The original New Zealand document
  • Holder's passport copy
  • Academic transcript for degrees and teaching qualifications, if requested
  • Emirates ID or residence visa copy, for UAE residents
  • A signed authorization letter

Scan the document and send it by WhatsApp or email, or visit our Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Ras Al Khaimah office. Timing depends on whether a notary is needed, on processing by the New Zealand authentication authority and the embassy, and on courier time between the two countries; the quote states it for your document.

New Zealand Certificate Attestation: Frequently Asked Questions

New Zealand is in the Apostille Convention. Why is my apostille not accepted?

Because the UAE is not a member. UAE authorities need New Zealand's authentication for non-Convention countries plus legalization by the UAE Embassy.

Does my university degree need a notary first?

Often yes, since the authentication authority may not be able to verify the university's signature directly. The quote confirms this for your document.

Do New Zealand documents need an Arabic translation in the UAE?

Not always. Most employers accept English; courts, notaries and some ministries want Arabic. We check before you pay.

Is a separate MOFA attestation needed after the UAE Embassy step?

In most cases no, as the embassy step now carries it digitally. Your quote confirms it.

How long does New Zealand certificate attestation take?

It depends on the document, any notarization and courier time. The free quote gives a realistic estimate.
