Documents You Need
- The original India-issued certificate or document (not a copy)
- A copy of the certificate holder's passport
- For educational certificates: the transcripts or mark sheets, if the issuing authority or your employer asks for them
- A copy of your UAE visa or Emirates ID, if you are a resident
- A signed authorisation letter, if Wordcraft handles the home-country and embassy steps for you
How It Works — Step by Step
- Send a scan on WhatsApp or email — we confirm the exact route for your document and country and send a free quote within 10–30 minutes.
- Hand over the original at any of our four offices — Dubai HQ (Al Twar), Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Ras Al Khaimah — or use our free pickup.
- Indian authentication — notary and state HRD department for educational documents, or Home Department/SDM for personal documents, then the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
- UAE embassy legalization with digital MOFA attestation — the UAE Embassy in New Delhi or a UAE consulate in India legalizes the document and now completes the UAE MOFA attestation digitally in the same step, so in most cases no separate MOFA visit is needed in the UAE. We confirm the route for your country in the quote.
- Arabic translation, if required — a certified legal translation by an MOJ-licensed legal translator when the receiving authority asks for one.
- Delivery — collect the attested document from our office or receive it through our free delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be in the home country for the first steps?
No. We coordinate the home-country and embassy steps through our network while you stay in the UAE; you only hand over the original and a passport copy.
Does the document also need an Arabic translation?
Often, yes — UAE authorities usually require a certified Arabic legal translation of documents issued in other languages. We confirm this with the receiving authority and can do it in-house.
Is the attestation valid for every UAE authority?
Once the UAE MOFA attestation is complete — for most documents issued abroad it is now done digitally by the UAE embassy in the issuing country — the document can be used across the emirates. Some authorities also ask for an Arabic translation, which we check before submission.
More Questions About Indian Certificate Attestation
How long does Indian degree attestation take for the UAE?
It depends mostly on the state HRD office that verifies the certificate, then on the MEA and the UAE Embassy or Consulate. Each state works at its own pace, so we give you the expected time for your state and document in the written quote instead of a general figure.
Can I attest my Indian certificates while I live in the UAE?
Yes. You hand the originals to any of our four offices, and we coordinate the state, MEA and UAE Embassy steps in India. Kerala certificates are followed up through our back office in Calicut; see Kerala HRD attestation.
Will an MEA apostille work in the UAE?
No. The UAE needs MEA attestation followed by the UAE Embassy or Consulate in India. An apostille is issued for Apostille Convention countries and will be refused here.
Can the Indian Consulate in Dubai attest my Indian degree?
Not for UAE use. The Consulate General of India in Dubai attests certain documents for Indian nationals, mainly for use in India, but a degree for a UAE work permit still has to go through the state, the MEA and the UAE Embassy in India.
India Route 2026 by Document Type
| Document | State step | Central step | UAE step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Educational (SSLC, Plus Two, degree, diploma, nursing) | Board or university verification where required, then the state HRD or education department | MEA attestation | UAE Embassy New Delhi or a UAE Consulate in India, with MOFA included digitally |
| Personal (birth, marriage, death, PCC, affidavit) | Notary, then the state Home Department or the SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) | MEA attestation | UAE Embassy or Consulate (MOFA included) |
| Commercial (company documents, POA, invoices) | Notary and chamber of commerce, as required | MEA attestation | UAE Embassy or Consulate (MOFA included) |
Once the UAE Embassy or Consulate in India has legalized the document, it normally needs no separate MOFA attestation on arrival in the UAE. We confirm the route for your certificate in the free quote.
State HRD Offices (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana/AP)
The HRD step belongs to the state that issued the certificate, not the state you live in, and each state runs its own office and rules:
- Kerala: authentication through Norka Roots on behalf of the state government; see Kerala HRD attestation, supported by our back office in Calicut.
- Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh: each state authenticates its own educational certificates through its education department, with its own verification requirements.
- Other states: handled through the relevant state authority; HRD attestation explains how the state step works in general.
Apostille (MEA) or UAE Embassy Attestation: Which One You Need
India's Ministry of External Affairs issues two different things: an apostille, for countries that belong to the Apostille Convention, and an MEA attestation, for countries that do not. The UAE is not a member, so a document for the UAE needs MEA attestation followed by the UAE Embassy or Consulate; an apostille on its own will be rejected. If the same document is also needed in an apostille country later (a move to Europe, for example), we can arrange both. More on the MEA step: MEA attestation.
