Documents You Need

  • A clear copy of the full power of attorney, including every page, stamp and attestation certificate
  • Passport copies of the principal (the person granting the power) and the attorney (the person receiving it)
  • The country and authority where the POA will be used, so the translation matches their format
  • For a company POA: the trade licence and the board resolution or MOA clause that authorises it
  • The original POA, kept ready in case notarization or attestation is needed after translation

How It Works — Step by Step

  1. Send your document on WhatsApp or email, or drop it at any of our four offices — Dubai HQ (Al Twar), Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Ras Al Khaimah.
  2. Get a free quote within 10–30 minutes confirming the language pair, the receiving authority and the delivery time — before any work starts.
  3. Translation and review — a legal translator translates your power of attorney and a second linguist proofreads it.
  4. Certification — the translation is stamped and signed by an MOJ-licensed legal translator.
  5. Collection or free delivery — pick it up from our office or use our free pickup and delivery. If the receiving authority asks for it, we can also arrange notarization or MOFA attestation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a POA issued abroad need to be translated for use in the UAE?

Yes — if it is not in Arabic, UAE courts, banks and government departments usually require a certified Arabic legal translation, and the POA itself normally needs attestation in the issuing country and by the UAE embassy there, which now completes the UAE MOFA attestation digitally.

Can you translate a UAE POA for use in another country?

Yes. We translate it into the required language and can arrange MOFA attestation and embassy legalization so it is accepted abroad.

Can you draft the POA as well as translate it?

Yes. Our notarization team can draft a bilingual Arabic–English POA and arrange its notarization, so you do not need a separate translation afterwards.

POAs Signed Abroad for Use in the UAE: Attest, Translate, Then Notary Steps

A power of attorney signed outside the UAE, for example by an owner, a shareholder or a family member living abroad, has to go through three steps before it can be used here:

  1. Attestation in the issuing country. The POA is signed before a notary there, authenticated as that country requires, and legalized by the UAE Embassy there, whose certificate now also carries the digital UAE MOFA attestation. An apostille cannot replace that embassy step, because the UAE is outside the Hague convention.
  2. Legal translation into Arabic. Once attested, the POA and its attestation pages are translated into Arabic by an MOJ-licensed legal translator.
  3. Use in the UAE. The receiving authority, such as a court, bank, land department or licensing authority, may accept the attested and translated POA directly, or may ask for further steps in the UAE, and we check which applies before work begins.

Translating before attestation usually means translating again, so we plan the order at the start. Our notary team explains the full process on using a foreign power of attorney in the UAE.

UAE POAs for Use Abroad

A power of attorney signed before a notary in the UAE is usually in Arabic, or bilingual Arabic–English. To use it in another country, it normally needs a translation into the destination language and attestation by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, followed by legalization at the destination country's embassy where that country requires it. Some countries also have their own rules on who may translate. We translate the POA and its notarial and attestation pages, set out what the destination expects before you pay, and arrange the MOFA attestation in the same order. If the POA has not been signed yet, our notary team can draft it with the destination in mind; see notarization for use abroad.

Property POAs

Property powers of attorney are the ones most often returned for wording. Land departments, developers and banks usually want the powers stated specifically: the property and unit, the right to sell, buy, sign the sale and purchase agreement, receive the price, pay fees, deal with the developer or collect rent. A general POA may not be enough. Before translating a property POA signed abroad, we read it against what you plan to do and tell you if it may fall short, so you can fix it before it is attested. If you are in the UAE, a bilingual property POA can be drafted and notarized here; see property power of attorney in Dubai. For SPAs, title deeds and tenancy documents, see real estate translation.
